I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid from Feb 22 - 26. I'm a single woman - 35 - traveling alone and I had a great time. The facility was wonderful, the staff was great and really encouraged the guests to interact. There is a lot to do from spa services, fitness center (with great machines), and yoga and its a great getaway. Note: You can use the steam room in the spa for free but they don't advertise it. I'm a hotel snob and it met my expectations. One thing to consider is the $50 cab ride to/from the airport and the high cost of food - otherwise it was a great place to stay and VERY relaxing.
The Fairmont Orchid is an elegant property on a breathtaking site along the Kohala Coast. Our large rooms, which overlooked a pretty waterfall and koi pond, were exceptionally comfortable, with fine furniture and beddings as well as marble bathrooms. Hotel staff is pleasant and helpful. Late sleepers or those who nap mid-day will want to avoid the "inside" wing of the north tower between now and Christmas - some noisy building is going on (new spa tables and enclosures). The Orchid Court is a relaxing spot for breakfast (pricey, of course). We had a light dinner at the Paniolo Lounge - very good food, and the server went out of her way to accommodate a special request. Be sure to look for honu (sea turtles) on the lava-strewn strand of beach behind the hotel. We visited several hotels along the Kohala coast and were always happy to be returning to the Orchid after our busy days of sightseeing! Check availability and book Fairmont Orchid |
