We stayed at the GW in late June early July '03. I was attending a meeting. The resort was awesome for the entire family. Although it took a little time to get used to the layout and size, the entire resort was breathtaking. The pools are almost beyond description. There is a series of about 9 pools connected by a lazy river and slides. Extra features include the famous water elevator, bars, hot tubs, saunas, rope swings etc. The pools distract you from the natural beauty of the beach. Rooms are large, well appointed and boast great ocean views. The public rooms are beautiful and at the same time open to the outside. Don't miss the collection of art work. We also found the service to be very good for such a large resort. The meeting facilities are outstanding. The catering for our private parties were first rate. We ran into so many celebs, I thought we were at the Oscars, but realized the surroundings were too nice. No complaints here.
we had a great time!!!!...we could only afford the least expensive room for our honeymoon and they upgraded us for free to an awesome ocean view room for FREE!!!!...the food was expensive but we expected that from Maui...the staff was really nice and tried to be as accomodating as possible...we didn't eat at the resort a lot because of the high prices but the pool restaurant was good but closed early like around 3 or so...the grounds were immaculate and it was everything that I dreamed Hawaii to be like...we spent 3 days at Waikiki and what a joke that was...10 million people everywhere, like being in Manhatten!!!...but Maui and ecspecially this hotel was great!!!...I don't think you can go wrong with the Grand, 4 Season's or Fairmont...they are all incredible!!!!...stay here if you can afford it and have fun!!!!
We visited The Grand Wailea on our second trip to Maui in 2001. I thought my son would enjoy all the options at the pool and it looked like a luxurious hotel for us. So, I booked a Deluxe Oceanview room for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We were on the top floor overlooking the adult pool and ocean. It was a nice room with a beautiful room, but compared to some other 5 star places we have stayed it was overpriced for the accomodations and the food. Don't get me wrong, we had a wonderful vacation and the grounds are beautiful. But, I think that there are resorts that are just as nice for a little less money. And, since my son was just 4, he did not get the full use of all the pool had to offer. Check availability and book Grand Wailea Resort |
