"True Hawaiian Ambiance"

We stayed in one of the more spacious upper level rooms which cost only a few dollars more and is money well spent. There was one queen bed and one single bed, also a small kitchenette. Our balcony was huge and we had many happy meals there. Most nights there were some local musicians jamming on acoustic guitars in the restaurant/pool area. It seemed to be party central for Molokai, but was nonetheless fairly low key (however the music did continue until about midnight and there seemed to be alot of guests and locals joining in and singing along). The ceiling in our room was very high and the upper areas were open to the outside (covered by screens) so noises from the outside could be heard very well while inside the room. We didn't mind at all. It was a refreshing change from the noise of the tourist luaus we heard on other islands. The atmosphere was very old-style Hawaiian and the island of Molokai is quite quiet overall. Best for those looking to get away from the "rat race" or for nature lovers, and this property is a very good, well-priced, but by no means luxurious, property. Our upper level room felt like our own little rustic cabin on an island paradise.

"Interesting"

The hotel is actually a dozen or so "bungalows" each with two guest rooms down stairs and a larger "loft" upstairs. Although the hotel is fairly old it is quaint and like most of Molokai very laid back. The resturant inside the hotel is open air and the food excellent. Molokai does not offer much in the way of "touristy" hotels so if you go here you are going for what is offered, peace and tranquility. There are a couple of stores in town and if they do not have what you are looking for you do not need it on Molokai.

"Our favorite place to stay!"

Excellent!! We loved the place. Very open rooms with flow through ventilation. Centrally located on the island. Reservation services for tours of Kualapapa (the old leper colony) and all other island attractions.Best food on the island! Dining right on the water.Laid back Molokai resort at it's best.If you want upscale, mainland style services, pay more for a west end resort.
