Aloha, Stayed here 12/31/03-01/04/04. It rained every day except the last day. This place is in a beautiful setting, we were upgraded upon check-in to a ocean front unit. The lanai opened up right to the beach, and you could hear the waves crashing at night. Papakea is a very quiet place. The amenities were great too. It is very convinient to Lahaina Town. Even though we were more impressed with Oahu than Maui, if we ever return to Maui, we will stay at Papakea again. The washer/dryers in each unit are nice too. Aloha and Mahalo.
We stayed at The Aston at Papakea Feb. 10 - 18, 2004. Upon arrival, about 6:00 p.m., we found that they had us arriving on our actual departure date. Since I had written verification of our reservation, they did give us a room. Since the mix up was their mistake, & that they had no oceanview studios available, they said that they would "upgrade" our room. But they actually found the one last 'oceanview studio' that was being cleaned as we spoke. The room was definitely not a new unit. There were patches in the ceiling, the bathroom drawer handle was taped to hold it on, the bathroom towel bar fell off the wall and we were afraid to try to open one of the tall mirrored closet doors.(It was not on its track) But we didn't spend much time in the room anyway. We actually got used to 'our little home away from home". The grounds are lovely, beautifully landscaped with flowers and koi ponds. Our room was an "Ocean View". Barely, but you could actually see the ocean. Our unit had tile floors which was a definite plus. I can't imagine having to walk around on sticky carpeted floors for a week. Our unit was a studio with lots of mirrors, but only lamps for light. (kinda dark in there.)Housekeepping is efficient (if you remember to tip each day)! The front desk staff was okay, but not necessarily something to write home about. Now as we were checking out, the gentleman was extremely cordial. (where was he when we checked in?) The parking at the Papakea was absolutely terrible ! ! ! There are not enough spaces close by. If you return to your room after 8:00 p.m., good luck. There are spaces about 3/4 of a block away around the corner out by the tennis courts. We were told that alot of the spaces were being taken up by condo owners who left their cars there when they were not actually in residence. (They should be parking out by the tennis courts). The best thing about the Papakea was its location in referrence to things to do.
My family and I stayed at Papakea Resort from Jan. 18-23 and we enjoyed it very much. In all my travels I've never stayed at a place I felt so comfortable and at home. Other places may be more luxurious but I doubt they're as nice. We can't wait to go back again. Check availability and book Aston at Papakea Resort |
