Beautiful hotel and location. I'd recommend staying in the Junior Suite, #601. It is right on the corner, totally private, with views of Hanalei Bay, Bali Hai, and views of the ocean to the north. Marble bathroom, jacuzzi tub, walk in shower, Bedroom, dining room, living room. Expansive windows, Bose stereo. Pool area is below average, beach is not that good, but go to Hideways Beach. One of the top beaches in Hawaii, excessible via a trail near the tennis courts. Great place for 2 or 3 nights. But maybe not longer. Went in February and it was sunny for 2 days and rained one day.
My husband and I just returned from 2 weeks in Hawaii-with one week spent at the Princeville.I was torn between the South shore and the North-after hearing people complain about the bad weather etc.... this time of year.Well-I can tell you this-we had bright sunshine every single day! The weather was perfect. We were thankful for a few clouds passing by-the sun was really hot. We did make it to the south shore-and we both were very disappointed with Poipu beach and the general area-very ordinary. Our room was lovely-the service was outstanding. I would stay at the Princeville again in a heartbeat. One negative-we ate at Cafe Hanalei 2 times(dinner)-and thought it was quite mediocre. Oh well-everything else was perfect!
Stayed here on first week of our HM. The hotel and lobby are very impressive. The rooms are beautiful with the best view of any place I've ever stayed. The food was great. The service was also great. For all that this hotel has going for it there was only one drawback. it is on the rainy side of the island. Every morning it was foggy and misty, so we would drive to the south of the island to get a full day of sun in. By the afternoon it would always be sunny at the Princeville, and we didn't mind the drive. We had a routine of stopping at Kapaa for breakfast, then continue down to the sunny southern side of the island to beautiful Poipu Beach. The drive was beautiful, basicaly driving through a rainforest. I don't want to discourage people from staying here, but if you want to lay by the pool from 10:00AM to 3:00PM you would be better served staying on the southern side of the island, or if you want all the great service, food, rooms, and weather I would suggest The Four Seasons in Maui.
