Stayed here for the second week of my Honeymoon. First week was at the Sheridan Maui. The Sheridan Kaui was also beautiful. The resort wraps along the beautiful beach of Poipu. The resort charges a 23 dollar a day resort charge. That covers a buffet breakfast for 2, in room cofee and parking. The beach area was beautiful. The water was a nice clear blue. The pool area although not huge was very nice and comfortable. The point restaurant gave the best view of the sunsets daily. The free Mai Tai hour was a nice touch. The hotel is located in a great location with shops & restaurants located less than a 3 minute drive. Very tropical feel to the hotel. The grounds were beautiful and the views from almost anywhere in the resort where breath taking. Had a great time enjoyed the Resort.
This place is pretty average. Admittedly, we stayed in the cheaper garden view room as we expected to spend very little time in the room. The room was pretty much what you would expect in a room at your hometown Sheratown. That's OK, except that they shouldn't be charging $250-300 for such a room. I guess that if you want to stay here, you should probably reserve an ocean view room. Of, course, for the $400 and up that you'll pay, you're probably far better off staying at the Hyatt nearby, even if in a lower category room.
We stayed from 7/4-7/10/03. We were not planning on staying in this hotel as we had rented a condo in Princeville. The condo was hotter tahn a Easy Bake Oven and their was no air conditioning, so we left. We were able to get accomodations at the Sheraton and weren't expecting too much. To our suprise it was very nice. Our room was over looking the pool and beach. It was one of the closest to the water rooms I have ever had. Our kids were on the ocean side, but garden view. Under the circumstances the value was good. The fifth night was free and they offered an extremely reduced rate for the second room. It wound up costing us just a little more than the condo, and it wound up being better for us--right on a great beach, nice pool and amenities. The also offered free meals for the kids, breakfast included, internet usage etc. also discounts on the dining room and pool rentals. We were very pleased until check out. They tried to bait and switch us with the bill. I wasn't getting a straight answer about being overcharged after waiting for a long time. Eventially we had to leave for the airport. I told them I would only authorize what they originally quoted me on my charge. I suggested that the managed could call me at home and work it out later if he still had a dispute, but I never heard from him. But for the little problem at the end, it was a very nice, laid back family hotel. It is not plush, but then again that is not the feel of the island. I would recommend it, unless you are looking for a Ritz Carleton type experience. Also make them but the room rate that they quote in writing. And don't put up with a bait and switch trick at check out. Check availability and book Sheraton Kauai Resort |
