Kalaupapa National Historic Park

Molokai Hawaii attractions: Kalaupapa National Historic Park

This beautiful park is a popular place for hiking and horse-riding. Hugging the nearly perpendicular cliffs, the trail from Topside Molokai to Kalaupapa is over three miles (5km) long and descends 1,600 feet (488m) to the peninsula. Along its course are 26 switchbacks that corkscrew in and out of canyons and ravines.

Kalaupapa, formerly a leper colony where the famous Father Damien resided, is now a National Historic Site. Access is strictly regulated. Unless you are invited by one of the residents, you must take a tour offered by Damien Tours of Kalaupapa.

Kaunakakai town

Kaunakakai is a little, old style town, situated on the middle of Molokai Island. The people of this small town enjoy quiet and simple live style. It has no luxurious hotels or restaurants but just a few country-style eateries and shops. It also has no colorful nightlife but Hawaiian dance and music.

Halawa Valley

Molokai Hawaii attractions: Halawa Valley

One of the most beautiful areas in Molokai, Halawa Valley was first settled in the 7th Century by people from the Marqueses Islands. Here you will find two lovely waterfalls, the major attraction of Molokai Hawaii, Moaula Falls and Hipuapua Falls as well as the ancient heiau (sacrificial temple). Moaula and Hipuapua Falls are located on private land above Halawa Valley. Moaula Falls is a double tiered fall which drops a total of 250 feet into a lovely pool at the bottom. Both falls can, however, be viewed from multiple lookouts along Highway 450.

Molokai Ranch

Located at the historic plantation town of Maunaloa with over 54,000 sprawling acres, or almost 1/3 of the island of Molokai, Molokai Ranch has been part of island life for more than a century. Nowadays the property is a working ranch, has lodging accommodation in a Sheraton-branded luxury 22-room Lodge and a unique 40-tent platform beach village on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Hawaiian Islands. Guests can enjoy mountain biking, hunting, canoeing and horseback riding.

Molokai Wildlife Conservation Park

This 350-acre Molokai Ranch Wildlife Conservation Park is located at the west end of the island. It preserves a lot of animals migrated from Africa and Asia, including barbary sheep, wild turkeys, zebra, giraffe and many other species.
