Hawaii > Snorkeling Hawaii Snorkeling![]() Turquoise waters of the Pacific and white sands of beaches make Hawaii bays so beautiful, that it is a great pleasure to spend all days on the beach swimming and snorkeling. Snorkeling is great entertainment for all member of the family no matter what the age. In the waters of the Pacific you will find it easy to float due to the fact that salt water is more dense than fresh, so you will be able to "ride" higher on the surface than in lakes or swimming pools. Hawaii snorkeling is one of the best in the world. The waters are crystal clear and warm during all year, the marine life is very diverse. Just put on a mask and start enjoying the wonderful sea creatures and the coral formations. Imagine floating along on ocean surface, your weightless body undulating in the warm ocean. Hawaii snorkeling gives you the possibility to explore the wonders of underwater world. Watch the hundreds of silvery needlefish darting about in perfect sparkling unison or follow brilliantly colored parrotfish meandering through a fluid neighborhood. ![]() There are a lot of nice beaches on Hawaii, where you can go for snorkeling. But you also have another option: to try a boat tour. Getting to a Hawaii snorkeling spot aboard a boat gives you time to relax, enjoy the view, and learn little known facts. Night Snorkeling is another experience that should not be missed. Everything changes at night. All that is needed is a flashlight and some protection for exposed arms and legs. Night snorkeling can be done in any snorkeling area you are familiar with (snorkel it during daytime first). Most Hawaii snorkeling companies provide all the snorkeling equipment you will need. The best time to go snorkeling or diving is early in the day. Most companies provide free hotel pickup. Snorkeling in Hawaii is safe in general, but there are some tips you should follow: Most of Hawaii's beaches have sharp coral reefs close to the shoreline. Use caution when snorkeling in shallow reef areas. Foot protection is advised. Shorebreaks are unpredictable and dangerous. Be sure to ask a lifeguard about the wave conditions at the beach you may be attending. Beware of sudden drops off. The "shelf" or "drop point" of the Island rapidly begins to decline and waters become very deep within short distances from the shore. There are also deep holes and caves in some places close to shoreline caused by collapsed lava tubes or naturally occurring conditions. Even experienced snorkelers and divers have been "sucked" into the holes or caves - especially during fast currents and high waves. |
