Just returned from a 1 week vacation spent on Oahu, Hawaii. It was great! We stayed at Moana Surfrider hotel, and we really liked it. Our room in the Tower Wing was fantastic. The beach is wonderful. All Waikiki shopping is close by. We spent most days on the beach, but we also had some time for touring. The trip I would highly recommend is a hiking trip to Diamond Head. It's better to go in the morning, when it's not so hot. The hike involves some climbing, but once you get to the top, the view is outstanding! So don't forget your camera. Great panoramic view is worth the trip.
It was the second time we - my girlfriend and me - visited Hawaii. Before we were on Maui, this time we decided to explore Oahu. Our plan was to stay at Waikiki beach and do all sight seeing trip from there. We landed at Honolulu international airport around 11.25 am local time and took a shuttle bus to Waikiki beach ($7 one way). We decided to stay at the Waikiki prince hotel. It was truly clean and nice place as it was mentioned in our guide book. It is only 2 blocks away from the Waikiki beach. We had enough time to swim and to sunbath the same day. At local travel agency I brought a City tour ($16) and Grand circle island tour ($24). Grand circle island tour was very remarkable. The pick up point was Hyatt regency Waikiki. We first went to Diamond head volcano crater. There is a great look out point for a good view of Waikiki beach. The next stop off point was Hanauma bay. A wonderful place to relax by the beach. After a quick lunch break we went to the north shore beaches and Waimea bay. The drive past a pineapple plantation owned by Dole is truly interesting. We had a stop off at the Dole plantation factory shop. The pineapple ice-cream they sell there is worth trying! Then we had dinner at International market place, Waikiki. My girl liked it! Honolulu city tour was rather interesting too (Pearl Harbor and Arizona memorial), but after two days of trips we were a bit tired and the rest of our vacation spent on the beach doing nothing. And of course, we visited Waikiki bars in the evening, drank, danced, had a lot of fun. |
